Condensate pumps are essential for efficiently removing water generated by air conditioning systems when gravity drainage isn’t possible. Choosing the right pump depends on where it will be installed, the cooling capacity of the unit, and the vertical distance the water must be lifted. For high wall split systems, pumps can be installed in various locations: in the ceiling using a mini or maxi orange pump, behind the indoor unit with a mini aqua, under the unit with a mini blanc, or within a pipe duct using mini or maxi lime models. For ducted air conditioners, suitable options for ceiling installations include high-capacity tank or lift pumps. The size of the air conditioner also matters—each kilowatt (kW) of cooling typically produces 1 to 1.5 litres of condensate per hour, so a 5kW unit may generate around 5 to 7.5 litres per hour, depending on humidity. It’s also important to consider the required lift height, calculated by adding the vertical distance from the condensate tray to the pump inlet and from the pump outlet to the discharge point. Selecting the correct pump ensures reliable performance, protects against water damage, and maintains optimal operation of the air conditioning system.
